About Micah Challenge UK
Micah Challenge UK is a coalition of Christian organisations and churches in Britain, united in their concern to fight global poverty. It is part of the international Micah Challenge movement of churches and Christian agencies uniting to hold their governments to account for the promises they made towards the fulfilment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger by 2015.
Need and Requirements
At the beginning of 2007 Verecom was commissioned to develop a cutting edge directory for Micah members to support the main website. Their main aim was to inform and involve people in campaigns and projects of Members, as well as create another source for fundraising via a highly attractive and interactive platform.
Solution and Involvement
After numerous meetings with the Micah leadership, the Verecom team carried on with several brainstorming sessions resulting in a detailed design brief and functionality description. Within a few weeks we were able to develop an eye catching interactive flash directory, which was sophisticated yet highly
user friendly and consisted of a seamless search based directory.
By using dynamic flash technology we were able to ensure that the entire process was made as smooth as possible by maximising the user experience.
The directory was enhanced by a custom made Content Management System supported by several automated processes. This provides Micah with excellent tool to: easily create a Member profile,
update Member activities, set up the period of listing in the directory, amend a placement in the category tree, upload images and textual details; thus enabling full management of the entire directory.
Result and Conclusion
The directory is now becoming a great meeting place for both visitors and members. Through the eye catching design, clear structure, intuitive functionality and quality resources, many actions fulfilling Micah's mission are taking place. Highly innovative web technologies and techniques were used for this to be successfully achieved.
With the solutions Verecom provided to Micah Challenge, they were able to accomplish their goals and Verecom takes great pride in being part of a noble cause that strives to eradicate poverty around the world.
